MAJOR SEARCH ENGINES PEOPLE USES TO FIND YOUR WEB PAGES
There are many ways some can find your web site when using the Internet.
One of the many ways someone can find your web site is the numerious
search engines and portal sites. Portal sites are web sites that receive
heavy Internet Traffic. They have links that people can use to find your
web site. Some of them have search engines which allows people to do key
word searches in order to find topics of interest including your site. I
will add your company's web site to the most well know of these portal
web sites which receives the most Internet traffic. These portal sites
are listed below. As other web sites become major portal sites and
search engines with heavy Internet traffic, they will be added to this
list and your web pages will be added to these up and coming portal sites.
- One of my favorite search engines is the AltaVista Web Site and
search engine. This site has many options and is part of a very large
data base.
- My next favorite search engine is Lycos. This is another large database.
- Another good search engine is Excite.
- Another well know search engine is Infoseek.
- America Online used the search engine called WebCrawler.
- A well know search engine although not as large as the above two is
Yahoo.
- Another less know search engine is
Hotbot.
Another search engine to search newsgroups call DejaNews
Another search engine that claims to make finding things on the Internet
easier call Google.
- A new company that signed on to Netscapes search engine web page called
Snap.
- Another new company added to netscapes search web page called Look Smart.
- American Online's search engine is called Netfind.
- Another search engine called Northern Light
to use when you can not find what you are looking for when using other search engines.
- Another search engine to search for reviews called Magellan.
- Another search engine where you can do advanced searches called
Open Text.
- An Europen search engine called Euroseek.
- Another Europen search engine call Euroferret.
